Research shows that much of the change people experience during their time in therapy is because they felt heard and understood by their therapist. They felt like their therapist “got them” and the guidance they gave was relevant and applicable.
Because of this, it’s critical that you find a therapist with whom you can connect and feel comfortable with. If you aren’t sure which therapist to choose, you can browse counselors based on specialties (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc), type of counseling (individual, couples, families), experience level, location, and more.
