Home » Which counselor tier is right for me?
At Cornerstone Christian Counseling, we understand that every individual seeking support deserves personalized care that suits their unique needs. That’s why we offer a range of counseling tiers, each tailored to provide exceptional care and expertise at various levels. We also accept participating in-network insurance, out-of-network insurance, and private payment options.
All of our counselors are committed to excellence, providing trauma-informed, Christian-based care both in-person and online. Each tier offers a unique blend of experience, training, and expertise, ensuring you receive the highest standard of care tailored to your specific requirements.
Tier 1: MA-Level Intern – Master’s degree students providing compassionate care under the direct supervision of a licensed counselor. For those seeking excellent counseling services without compromising quality, they offer our most affordable rate and accept insurance.
Tier 1: Counselor in Training – Master’s students who have completed all required internship hours and are preparing to graduate. Supervised by a licensed counselor, they offer the same affordable rate and insurance options as interns while transitioning into full-time roles.
Tier 2: Pre-Licensed Counselor (LPCC) – Fully graduated clinicians with Master’s degrees (LPCC/MFTC) who are actively earning clinical hours toward full state licensure. Working under expert supervision, they provide skilled, client-centered care grounded in solid foundational experience (insurance accepted).
Tier 2.5: Advanced Pre-Licensed Counselor (LPCC) – Master’s-level pre-licensed counselors (LPCC/MFTC) working under supervision who have built on their degree with additional specialized training. They bring extra certifications, experience, and deeper, tailored strategies for your goals.
Tier 3: Licensed Counselor (LPC) – Fully credentialed, independent counselors (LPC/LMFT) who have completed 2,000+ clinical hours and passed state and national licensure exams. They draw on years of practical experience to address diverse concerns with customized, high-level care without requiring supervision.
Tier 4: Advanced Counselor I – Seasoned licensed counselors with 5,000+ clinical hours and/or specialized certifications in advanced therapy methods (such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Emotionally Focused Therapy). With a commitment to providing clinically excellent and biblically sound care, these counselors offer a comprehensive approach to your well-being.
Tier 5: Advanced Counselor II – Our most experienced licensed counselor, possessing 10,000+ clinical hours and extensive expertise in specialized, evidence-based therapeutic methods (such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and Emotionally Focused Therapy). Trust in their wealth of experience as they guide you towards profound healing and meaningful transformation.
Both are Master’s degree students who provide affordable care under supervision at the same $85 rate:
Student Interns are actively completing their required clinical internship hours for school.
Counselors in Training have already completed all required internship hours but have a gap semester before their degree is officially conferred. They have accepted offers to remain with our practice long-term as they transition to full graduation.
Both tiers consist of Master’s graduates actively working toward full state licensure under supervision. However, Tier 2.5 clinicians have completed extra certifications and trainings beyond standard degree requirements. Their increased rate reflects this additional specialized knowledge.
Yes. Every clinician at our practice holds or is actively earning an advanced Master’s degree in mental health. Pre-licensed and student counselors practice under the direct oversight of a senior, fully licensed clinical supervisor. This means when you work with a Tier 1, 2, or 2.5 counselor, your care is backed by both your primary therapist and an experienced supervisor reviewing treatment approaches behind the scenes.
Insurance coverage is accepted for all Tier 1 clinicians and participating Tier 2–2.5 clinicians. Coverage depends on your specific insurance provider and network plan. Please contact our client care team to verify your benefits prior to your first session.
Choose Tier 1, 2, or 2.5 if you are looking for cost-effective care, want to utilize insurance, or are seeking support for life transitions, stress, anxiety, or relationship issues.
Choose Tier 3 if you prefer a fully licensed counselor with verified state credentials and multiple years of post-graduate experience.
Choose Tier 4 or 5 if you are seeking support for complex trauma, specialized couples therapy, deep-seated emotional patterns, or specific therapeutic modalities.
At Cornerstone Christian Counseling, your well-being is our priority. Choose the tier that best aligns with your needs and embark on a journey of healing and growth with confidence.
