Home » Can I contact my counselor between sessions?
Some counselors may offer brief phone calls, emails, or text messages between sessions for schedule changes, prayer requests, or to address urgent concerns. Specific policies may vary among counselors, so be sure to ask if this is something you’re looking for.
If a complex issue or heavy situation arises between appointments, your counselor may suggest scheduling an extra session or adding it to the agenda for your next visit. In-depth therapeutic work requires the focused, dedicated time of a full session.
Between-session contact is not meant for immediate crisis support or emergency situations. If you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room right away.
