The therapeutic journey typically has 5 major phrases, which include getting to know you, determining your goals for therapy, planning out the roadmap, doing the hard work, and celebrating major milestones together.

Your counselor will periodically review these goals with you, helping to measure improvements or changes in thoughts, feelings, or behaviors over time. This roadmap gives you confidence that things are progressing, even when it may feel like you’ve been stuck in the same phase for a while.
