Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
We all have the power to change and find redemption, healing, and hope. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe space where you can be your authentic self and explore your life experiences, personality, beliefs, and passions—and how they all intersect to make you a unique individual able to live life to the full. Throughout the therapeutic process, I will give you tools that empower you to reach your goals and help you grow.
My non-judgemental approach will help you find truth, hope, and healing in the midst of difficulties. I am eclectic in style, meaning we will collaborate as a team to find activities and techniques that serve you best. I work with people of all ages. I love working with children and adolescents ensuring they feel safe and have outlets for play and movement during sessions.
what to Expect in Therapy
Showing up to therapy can be difficult. It is vulnerable to share your story and ask for help. I offer a supportive environment for you to come as you are and explore your needs. Your only goal is to show up, I will walk you through the rest!
In our first few sessions, we will spend time connecting and getting to know one another so we can ensure I am a good fit for you. There will be time set aside for questions about your background, and we will collaborate on your desired goals and outcomes for therapy. Each session is tailored to your needs!
If you are bringing a child or teen, please know I have experience with these age groups and will make the sessions appropriate for their developmental needs. I can provide fidget toys, comfortable spaces, and meet them on their level. I want them to look forward to their sessions as a place to grow and learn, and hopefully have some fun!
We are all on our own spiritual journey. If you prefer to incorporate prayer, Scripture, or spiritual practices into your therapy sessions, we can do so with your permission. I am also happy to include art, music, books, or any other creative outlets that bring you hope and joy!
Personal Qualifications and Experience
Some of the most meaningful experiences in my life led me to a career in counseling. Traveling to other countries to serve the homeless and orphans helped me to see the true longings within the human heart—to be seen, loved, held, and have access to resources such as food and clean water. I have also had the privilege of being on a ministry team for high school students and teen moms. Both groups have taught me greatly and propelled me into counseling as a career!
When I became a mother, I joined a local moms group and enjoyed it so much that I became a leader helping to organize events for new moms and their kids. During this time, I also decided to pursue a certification in yoga to fuse fitness and mindfulness techniques, and I now teach classes to all age groups. I love helping people learn how to have fun, pursue their goals, and reduce stress!
My undergraduate degree is from Arizona State University in Communication, and I am finishing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. My desire is to help you find your calling, live a full life, and find peace in your soul.
Personal Interests
You can find me at the local coffee shop hunkered down in a good book wearing a chunky knit cardigan with a warm croissant and an iced mocha latte. Oh wait, I am just dreaming—that would be my dream day!
Some of my interests include an obsession with audiobooks, hanging out with friends, and drinking coffee. I am a big fan of music and often find myself singing or humming my favorite lyrics. I am known to be quite cheesy and fun, and I really love to laugh. My favorite activities are hot yoga and walking in nature. I find great joy and comfort in my faith in Jesus.
I am married to an awesome man, and we have two daughters and two dogs. My daughters and I love binge-watching Gilmore Girls or Harry Potter and listening to Taylor Swift, and we enjoy occasional crafting, shopping, and baking! Our family also loves nature and camping.
