Cornerstone Christian Counseling is a vibrant, faith-based organization that places a high value on caring for our clinicians and clients well while pursuing excellence in all we do. We are currently looking for a qualified unlicensed (LPCC or MFTC) or licensed (LPC or LMFT) counselor who would like to join our practice in a part- to full-time capacity and work primarily out of Colorado Springs location (12295 Oracle Blvd #220, Colorado Springs, CO 80921).

As an employee of Cornerstone Christian Counseling, you get to choose the days/hours you would like to work, and have the freedom and flexibility to control your schedule. However, you also acquire new clients only as the phone rings; this is not a salaried position and a set number of clients from week to week is not guaranteed.

Cornerstone Christian Counseling offers an attractive fee split with multiple opportunities to grow your income over time. Hourly pay for unlicensed clinicians is $44.00/hour and licensed clinicians can earn $65.00-104.50, depending on experience and certifications. We provide health benefits for FT (30+ hours/week) employees, PTO for both part and full time employees, an annual stipend for continuing education, comfortable offices to work from, supervision for unlicensed individuals, consultation for licensed folks, and robust marketing and admin support. Job Summary:

Provide excellent clinical care with a Biblical worldview that will help clients heal, grow and thrive through tried and true counseling modalities and specialties.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Intake and Assessment:

● Welcome clients for their first session with intentionality, warmth and an authentic, caring presence.
● Develop rapport and an understanding of client needs and goals through compassionate and thorough assessment.
● Ensure clients understand their rights and therapist responsibilities in regards to safety and confidentiality.
● Assess for SI and other safety concerns and determine immediate and ongoing measures necessary to ensure safety.

Client Care

● Ensure the client feels heard, understood, safe and guided.
● Develop a treatment plan based upon a thorough assessment and clinically researched modalities and interventions.
● Track progress towards treatment plan objectives and goals, noting correlations of success and failure that will inform the refinement of treatment plan goals.
● Refine the treatment plan as goals are met and/or new, or relevant information is disclosed.
● Coordinate care with other providers to ensure cooperation towards related goals.

Terminations and Transfers
● Ensure the client understands and is able to sustain all drivers necessary to maintain clinical goals apart from ongoing clinical support.
● If goals are not being met, or might be met more effectively through the influence of another provider, discuss the option with them and coordinate a caring and professional transfer. ● If ongoing care or transfer is recommended, ensure this transfer is completed, including the transfer of all necessary documentation with ROIs.

Documentation and Supervision

● Ensure all documentation is thorough, complete and within professional timelines.
● Regularly meet with an assigned supervisor to discuss all necessary information regarding client wellbeing and progress towards goals, prioritizing safety concerns, legal and ethical issues, countertransference and lack of progress.
● Cooperate with the assigned supervisor to determine best practices and care for clients.
● Ensure all client signatures and ROIS are complete and files are organized correctly.

Charging

● Ensure all sessions are appropriately charged.
● Coordinate with the billing department when payment issues or concerns come up, as necessary.

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

● Understand that our model is a blend between a group and private practice. There are opportunities for autonomy, but a go-it-alone attitude won’t work here. We work together as a team and are constantly working towards improving ourselves individually and as a group.
● A good team player who works well with administrative office staff and within team meetings and group consultations.
● Manages time well, completes tasks in a timely manner; is punctual and reliable.
● A learning heart, willing to participate in training and learn from those around you.
● A commitment towards the integration of Christian faith in therapy practices, when desired by the client.
● Able to demonstrate love, compassion and genuine care when interacting with others.

Schedule

● Must attend Cornerstone’s weekly all-staff meeting, called Group Supervision, which includes Cornerstone announcements, training and group case consultations. These meetings are every Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM MST/MDT. Most meetings are held virtually, with one meeting a month typically in person at your local counseling office.
● Cornerstone desires for clients to have access to counselors in the evenings and on weekends. Therefore, it is our expectation that counselors commit to working two weeknight blocks per week OR one weeknight and one Saturday block per week. A block is considered 4 hours.
● This position requires at least 15 hours of availability per week to start.
● A counselor’s working schedule outside of the above parameters are determined based on office availability and the counselors desired number of sessions per week.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education, Licenses and Experience

● Masters in Mental Health Counseling, required.
● Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFTC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
● Desired specialities, though not required: Play Therapy (such as Synergetic Play Therapy), EMDR, BSP, oher other specific modalities such as Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

Physical/Technology Requirements

● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and in counseling sessions.
● If working outside of the Cornerstone offices, the counselor must have a secure/private working home office with a speedy internet connection as this role requires confidentiality and privacy of personal information and follow all procedures related to teletherapy, if/when online sessions need to take place due to personal or client circumstances.
