1. What draws you to the counseling field? Why do you want to become a therapist?
I believe people have an innate desire to connect, feel empathy, and be understood by others. A longing to help others develop close relationships is what drove me to be a therapist. As a counselor, I am honored to discover who you are and what it is like to be you, in order to help you alleviate your pains and learn from your struggles.
2. HAVE YOU BEEN THROUGH COUNSELING YOURSELF? WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE
FOR YOU?
Yes, I have been to counseling! While I was nervous at first about the idea of talking about my struggles with another person, I felt seen, heard, and valued by my first counselor. Since then, I have seen other counselors throughout different periods of my life and have gained understanding about myself, relationships, strengths, weaknesses, and goals for my life. Participating in the counseling process allows someone to join me in my darkest times and celebrate with me in my good times.
3. WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO is CONSIDERING COUNSELING?
Even considering talking with a therapist is brave. I admire clients who are willing to face their life issues and seek help–it indicates they believe change is possible and they are taking action to make it happen. Starting counseling can be the first step toward understanding one’s personal issues and healing from the pain those issues inflict. I firmly believe that this process can improve the quality of life for the client and for those around them.
4. WHAT ARE YOUR SPECIALTIES?
I enjoy working with clients who are eager and ready to work on making change happen in their life. It is amazing to see clients try something and experience growth as a result of their boldness. Some of my specialties are working with anxiety and depression, life transitions, relationship hardships, and communication issues. I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescents, couples, and individuals.
5. what is one random or fun fact about you?
I am a roller coaster enthusiast and love visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain!
