Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
One of the things I love most about counseling is the opportunity to join you on your personal journey toward growth. Each journey is unique to your individual values, life perceptions, and beliefs, and it is an honor to walk alongside you. While we are on this journey, we will identify the strengths God has given to you and use those for healing. I am empathic and loving and will provide a space for you that is safe and non-judgmental. A place where you feel accepted and understood, a place that fosters openness and growth.
Our relationship will be collaborative regarding treatment goals, and I will use a variety of methods to best meet your needs. I believe that being created in God’s image means that we are created to be relational beings. Not just as counselor and client, but within ourselves. We were created for internal connection, and emotional pain can disrupt this and impact your body and soul. Throughout our journey, I am devoted to bringing wholeness to each of these areas!
What to Expect in Therapy
Life is complicated and challenging. At times, we can feel as though we are alone in a dark room. This can be overwhelming. In those moments, it is comforting to know that we are not alone. The biggest step in therapy, often the hardest step, is to ask for help and support. I am not afraid to be in that dark room with you. It is not easy to be vulnerable, but I will be here to encourage you and offer the support you need.
One of the biggest questions in therapy is often, “how long will this take?” The answer is…it’s up to you. Therapy is an opportunity for you to decide what changes you want to see in your life. You get to decide how fast or how slow you want to see these changes happen. Change is a journey that involves both highs and lows, so it is important to know that difficulties may arise during our time together. When faced with these difficulties we can work together to find effective strategies that will encourage your growth and healing.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
I love people and I love hearing their stories. I have always had a heart that longs for others to feel heard, understood, and loved. Even as a child, I was the friend that people turned to when they needed to talk. I worked in property management before changing careers and found that my favorite part of my day was when a resident would walk into my office looking for a space to be heard. It was in these moments I felt God’s calling to become a counselor.
I graduated with a B.A. in general psychology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2014. I completed my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University in 2021. I have taken classes to strengthen my counseling skills and knowledge of therapeutic interventions to provide educated support to those I am called to work in therapy. I have completed EMDR training and am always looking for new trainings to supplement our work together.
Personal Interests
The best part of my day is coming home to my family. We love to play outside, hiking camping and enjoying the awesome Colorado sun. It’s a blast to watch my daughter as she grows and watch her mind an imagination!
