Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach

Life is a journey. No matter where you are on your journey, you are a person of great value and worth. The journey is hard and painful at times. As your counselor, I desire to come alongside you as a fellow-traveler providing you with a caring, welcoming space to explore and flourish. My desire is that you would feel seen, cared for, and empowered. Let’s navigate this journey together in the work of growth, healing, and living to the fullest.

I believe that God designed us to live lives filled with meaning, purpose, joy, and peace. But these are often robbed from us and things are not as they are meant to be. My goal is to walk with you where you are toward hope, healing, peace, and fulfillment.

What to Expect in Therapy

The choice to enter therapy can feel uncertain, hopeful, scary or a mix of all of those emotions simultaneously. It can feel vulnerable to share deep thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a new person. Contemplating change can be both exciting and intimidating.

I believe you are brave as you take the step to enter therapy. I will provide a welcoming space where you feel safe to explore, heal, and grow. We will walk your journey at your own pace. We are in this together!

In our first few sessions, I would love to answer any questions you may have about therapy, get to know each other better, and work together to set the goals you would like to accomplish. Then, we will explore your thoughts and feelings and work step-by-step toward your goals. At times, we may decide together to incorporate “missions” or between-session goals. These are opportunities to put into play what you are learning and discovering, and super-charge the change process.

Faith is a central part of who we are. Everyone is at a different place in their faith journey, and I honor where you are in yours. If you choose, I am delighted to incorporate prayer, scripture, and spiritual practices into therapy.

Personal Qualifications and Experience

I love meeting new people and listening to their stories, joys, struggles, triumphs, and hopes. After some soul-searching, I discovered that counseling is a beautiful way to pair my desire to help people with my love of listening.

In everything I do, my hope is to build caring relationships with others. As a camp counselor, I spent many summers discipling, mentoring, leading team-building activities, and spending time with campers. I appreciated getting to know guests and sharing a smile during my time in customer service. I enjoyed getting to support and be a part of the daily lives of residents in a group home. Relationships are one of the most beautiful parts of life, and I am grateful for every opportunity to invest in the life of another.

Personal Interests

I think of the outdoors as one giant playground! I love hiking, running, and exploring. I appreciate any opportunity to have a great conversation, especially over a cup of tea or coffee. I also love traveling both near and far.

I am married to Dave Loos and we have the cutest puppy named Chloe. We enjoy exploring little towns and suburbs as well as playing card and board games. We love to sing and play music together.
