Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach

I deeply respect the profound impact therapy can have, seeing it as a unique opportunity for compassion to fit into shared human experience. Every therapy session is a distinct chance to honor and embrace your story with careful consideration, cultivating mutual growth. Central to my therapeutic approach is a strengths-based perspective, guided by the belief that you possess inherent resilience and capabilities. I am committed to guiding you through a process of reframing your personal narrative, placing greater emphasis on your identity as a survivor rather than a victim, and highlighting your strengths amidst adversity.

My work with adolescents follows a similar ethos. A strong therapeutic relationship is highly important which means I devote significant energy to understanding my adolescent clients’ wants and needs to empower them to realize their goals while providing support in building resilience. Additionally, I wholeheartedly delight in working with children. While kiddos certainly have different perspectives, I am firm in my conviction that children are smarter and more capable than often credited. In my practice, I am dedicated to creating a space where children’s voices are heard and valued, understanding that play serves as a medium for expression.

Above all, I am committed to holding space for my clients and embracing a collaborative approach to therapy. Together, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing that is guided by empathy, respect, and a shared commitment to holistic well-being.

What to Expect in Therapy

Whether you are stepping into therapy for the first time, or simply working with a new clinician, it can feel overwhelming and intimidating. I hope to make the process as easy as possible by being transparent about what to expect and working in collaboration with you to address your concerns and meet your goals. You can expect me to be highly relational, warm, and focused.

In our first few sessions, we’ll team up to tackle any questions or concerns you have about therapy, whether it’s for you or your child. These sessions serve as an opportunity for us to acquaint ourselves and make sure we are a good fit. It is important to me that you feel good about working together as we establish specific goals. I look forward to our sessions as I believe in your capacity to experience a life well lived.

Lastly, I am more than happy to include faith (prayer, scripture, spiritual practices, etc.) into our therapeutic relationship should you desire that. However, it is my hope that you feel comfortable bringing any beliefs to our work, and I will honor your unique perspectives and preferences while incorporating them into treatment. I am also open to including a holistic approach to our space by integrating aspects such as art, movement, nutrition, and other practices into our time together.

Personal Qualifications and Experience

Originally, I wanted to be an outdoor professional. I love working with people and hoped to open my own outfitter someday, so I double majored in Business Marketing and Psychology at Grand Canyon University. I became a rock climbing and mountain biking guide. During the off-season, I worked as a marketing professional for a nonprofit focused on educating children in abject poverty overseas. After working in the field in Kenya, my eyes were opened to the need for mental healthcare in a holistic healthcare model. I decided to go back to school to get my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and haven’t looked back since (other than during my off days when you can catch me soaking up the sunshine outside).

I have always valued interpersonal relationships, whether volunteering at trafficking centers for young women, leading young adult groups, tutoring middle-school students, bonding with outdoor recreation participants, managing professional marketing relationships, or holding space for pain and vulnerability while serving as a counselor. In my most recent role, I worked with children and adults experiencing trauma and addiction at Red Rock Recovery Center’s outpatient program. I feel so grateful that I get to work with people doing what I love.

Personal Interests

If it wasn’t already blatantly obvious, I fit right into the Colorado stereotype of enjoying climbing, backpacking, swimming, and more. I also enjoy winding down by drawing, watching films, and listening to a wide variety of music. I love all sorts of unique animals (ask me about my pets) and spend lots of time in coffee shops with friends. I look forward to getting to know you!
