Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
I’m convinced that within the four walls of a counseling room is where some of the deepest moments of inner and relational healing happen. In the midst of our routines, we may find ourselves reflecting on how we are doing or the state of our relationships. Despite the amount of internal consideration we give to these areas, doing so in the presence of an empathetic counselor lends a hand to further exploration. I provide a space where you can process your experiences and feel deeply; a space where you are safe to choose courage and vulnerability.
Sometimes, a hurdle to beginning—or resuming—therapy can be the fear of coming to an impasse. However, I believe it is possible to progress through situations and conflicts that feel like a dead end, or even hopeless. In fact, it’s where some of the best work can happen.
We all have burdens to lay down, chains to break free from, and relational wounds that need healing (Isaiah 58:6-12). Whether you are coming to therapy for individual, couples, or family work, I will navigate those moments alongside you, helping you seek deeper understanding and healthier ways of living.
What to Expect in Therapy
As we begin therapy, I will spend time getting to know your story. It can feel difficult to share your story with a stranger, especially the parts that hold wounds or big life questions. During our first session, and every session thereafter, we will work at your pace. I value transparency in the counseling process, and I will communicate the ‘what’ and ‘why’ behind every step of the therapeutic process.
In my role as a marriage and family therapist in training, I am committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate their unique paths. By working together, we will identify your goals and tailor therapeutic techniques to fit your journey. Using a systemic lens and a collaborative approach, we will uncover how life’s existential factors influence your present reality and explore the way your emotions interact with your larger life roles, such as the complexities of parenting young children.
Throughout our time together, you will find me a welcoming, authentic presence. I have profound respect for the commitment you make by consistently showing up for the healing and growth you seek. The Lord is always present, which has great implications for the past wounds you process, your current circumstances, and the hope you can have for the future. He is near, and He will be near in the counseling room.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
My study of psychology began as early as my junior year of high school—and perhaps even earlier, before I had a formal name for it. I have always been fascinated by the way contextual variables influence the outcome of various situations: how strangers interact when placed in a room together or the diverse ways family members process a shared difficult event. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon University. During my time in this program, I saw again and again how the Word of God intersects with the human condition.
I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado Christian University. As I work toward completing my degree, I feel privileged to walk alongside my clients, and I am deeply appreciative of the mentorship provided by my supervisor, whose training and professional insights enrich my clinical work.
Personal Interests
In my free time, I enjoy being outside and breathing in the cleanest air I can find. In other words, the deeper I am in the trees, the better! Hiking and paddle boarding are activities that both invigorate and restore me. I also love to catch comedy sets whenever possible; the more laughter, the better.
I am always looking for a way to experiment with new recipes, so my husband is never quite sure what he may encounter when I make dinner! We love to care for our rescue puppy who is nine (does that still count as being a puppy?), and we enjoy competing with each other during card games and pickleball.
