Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
I am passionate about helping children and families navigate life’s challenges through faith, humor, and therapeutic techniques. With a warm, empathetic approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy (reframing negative thought patterns), book therapy, and a healthy dose of humor, I offer a space where you and your family can heal, grow, and rediscover hope.
Drawing from biblical principles and evidence-based counseling techniques, I work with children, parents, and families to strengthen relationships, build emotional resilience, and promote spiritual well-being. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, behavioral challenges, or family dynamics, I believe in the transformative power of God’s love and grace in the healing process.
I will provide a safe, supportive environment where you feel empowered to discover and create the best path forward. You are the expert on you and your children—I will act as your guide, offering help along the way.
what to Expect in Therapy
It is hard to start something new. It can be overwhelming and difficult to tell someone about your struggles, or your child’s. As you trust me with your story, your child’s story, or your family’s story, I will support you through challenges and help you rediscover God’s purpose for your life. I will walk with you toward restoration. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Sometimes, as parents, it is hard to know how to best help our kids. It can feel isolating and lonely to not have the answers when we want what is best for them. Not knowing how to navigate issues can cause turmoil within our family systems. Children can also feel nervous about sharing their thoughts and feelings with a new adult.
My goal in our first few sessions is to make sure you and your family are comfortable and have your questions answered. I love books and have a few to break the ice with kids who might be hesitant. We will go at you and your child’s pace. By integrating therapeutic techniques with playful, creative strategies, I ensure that therapy is not only effective but enjoyable. Job 8:21 says, “He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”
I am here to help. You are not alone. My hope for you is laughter and joy!
Personal Qualifications and Experience
I am a graduate student at Colorado Christian University pursuing a dual Master of Arts in Counseling, concentrating in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. I have experience working at an elementary and middle school where I focused on self-esteem, group counseling, behavior plans, anxiety, ADHD, and autism.
I am a member of Chi Sigma Iota (international counseling honors society), the Colorado Counseling Association (CCA), the American School Counselors Association (ASCA), and the American Counseling Association (ACA). I also have an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Northern Arizona University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Arizona State University.
Personal Interests
My family loves traveling and anything outdoors—biking, camping, fishing, exploring! My daughter is 11 and my son is 9. I enjoy volunteering at their school and cheering them on at their activities. I play volleyball and especially like the outdoor leagues in the summer.
