“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.” —Helen Keller
Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
Life can be tough, and trust can be difficult to build, but my aim is to earn your trust on this brave path you’ve chosen. Therapy, for me, is both a relationship and a partnership. I aim to make therapy a collaborative process where you are an essential part of the journey. I work with all types of clients and have a heart to serve multiple populations.
My role as your therapist is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can be your authentic self. The content can sometimes feel heavy, but if you are open to it, I love to add levity to our sessions. My goal is to encourage you and to challenge you to step into new patterns for yourself and let go of things you cannot control.
I work from a person-centered therapy lens and tend to be eclectic in my theoretical orientations though I lean heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Our thoughts and thought patterns often play a significant role in the struggles we face.
Above all, my faith is the foundation of my work, and I believe that the love of God and a potential encounter with Him is the greatest tool I can bring into our sessions together.
What to Expect in Therapy
I bring my authentic self and I invite you to bring your true self to our work together. I value everything you share with me and will lead with curiosity. I want you to feel my presence. While I don’t claim to have lived through all of your experiences, I strive to meet you exactly where you are, and hope to learn about your story and situation as much as I can. I view myself as your advocate, your encourager, and your safe space.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
Over the years, I’ve been supported by some incredible counselors whose guidance inspired me to pursue a career in this field. I graduated with a Master’s in Counseling from Colorado Christian University, but before becoming a counselor, I spent 15 years in the technology industry. During that time, I learned that God can use me in any situation, no matter the setting.
I have experienced a good amount of life. From divorce (my parents, my own), remarriage, blending families, raising kids within that blended families, loss and brokenness. I have witnessed first hand that God can bring beauty from the ashes.
Personal Interests
I’m a proud mom of three, a wife, and a Colorado native. I love staying active and spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking or simply enjoying nature. I also enjoy unwinding with a good show, a relaxing book, and most importantly, quality time with my family. I’m a true animal lover and count our two dogs as part of the family. My family is deeply involved in our local church, and we share a strong commitment to following God’s will in our lives. I look forward to to having the opportunity to work with you and be a part of your journey!
