Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
I have learned that most days start and end with the same routine. However, “Not” every day ends the same. Let’s talk about those “Not” days.
My “Not” day that moved me from baseline normal was a traumatic on-duty incident. But for you, it could be daily life struggles, or a life-changing event. It could be something that impacts you physically and emotionally, or something that strains your relationships.
Every part of life is a journey. We all experience ups and downs, twists and turns. We might feel like we don’t have all the answers, but working together in counseling can help navigate us to the right path to go forward.
What to Expect in Therapy
Therapy is your time to focus on what areas need to be addressed, in a safe environment. We may explore your personal narrative, or things that are bothering you. Some sessions there might be homework and outside readings to help bridge the time between sessions.
I am here to be with you on this journey. To listen and make sure you feel heard. There are many different therapy approaches and tools that can be beneficial while in session, and finding the right approach that works for you can help you unlock a better quality of life. I am a big believer in self-care, and believe the important part of mental healing is ensuring that you take time for you.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
I am a retired first responder with 30 years of experience. In 2019, I experienced an on-duty incident that changed my life. From that traumatic event, I experienced how important mental health counseling is to improve our quality of life. As I went through my physical and mental healing, I found counseling became a calling I couldn’t ignore.
I’ve been married for over 23 years, and enjoy working with couples and seeing them experience the benefits of a healthy, happy marriage. I have also walked through the grief of losing a child, and understand what it’s like to experience the emotional turmoil of deep loss.
I am thrilled to be able to be a solution to our combat on Mental Health through counseling and peer support. I have found that God has been a driving force in my life for as long as I can remember. I recently completed my Master’s degree with Colorado State University’s Military and Emergency Responder Psychology program.
Personal Interests
My family and I have been Foster Parents for the last 9 years, earning the Foster Parents of the year award in 2023. We are also huge Disney fans and try to get to Disney World as often as possible. I am an avid Star Wars Fan and have an entire room full of memorabilia. I enjoy the outdoors and spending time in nature. We serve the Lord in our home every day and believe God has brought us to serve others in all we do.
