Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach

You don’t need someone who has all the answers. You need someone who will sit with you in the hard questions and help you find your own strength to answer them. You are the expert of your life. I will help guide you through the therapeutic process, with a positive, goal-oriented approach rooted in Adlerian psychology — the belief that you are capable, purposeful, and driven by a deep need to belong and contribute. I pair this with Motivational Interviewing, meeting you exactly where you are rather than where I think you should be.

Change doesn’t happen on its own. It happens when you feel truly heard, and when you start to trust the power of your own abilities.

What to Expect During Therapy

Walking into a counselor’s office for the first time can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve never done it before. This is a safe space. We’ll start by talking through what brought you in and what you’re hoping will be different. From there, we’ll work together, not as expert and client, but as two people charting a path forward.

You can expect to be challenged when it’s helpful, and always supported. You can also expect that, if desired, your faith is welcome in the room. Lastly, I do have a sense of humor, so don’t be afraid to laugh if the moment merits it.

Personal Qualifications and Experience

Before stepping into counseling, I spent over a decade in sales and business development. That background taught me how to build trust, read a room, and stay steady when things get hard, which are skills that carry directly into mental health care.

Before going into sales, I was a teacher for eight years, where I taught Spanish and bilingual education. I also coached youth and high school baseball for years, which shaped my understanding of how young men develop resilience, identity, and confidence, as well as how crucial the right support is for adolescents to flourish. In addition to coaching and teaching, I had the opportunity to mentor youth at my church.

I hold a master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Texas State University. I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University, with coursework spanning psychopathology, crisis intervention, trauma treatment, and group counseling theory.

Personal Interests

Whenever I have time, you can find me on a mountain bike or snowboard in the mountains with my wife and three young boys as we adventure through Colorado. In addition to the outdoors, we love to travel. Last year, we went to Denmark and Germany and learned all about that part of the world.

Life is too short not to take risks and live passionately. Your perspective on your life is powerful, and the narrative you are telling yourself shapes where you are now; if you are not happy where you are, we can work on rewriting your story together. Shifting your inner narrative is the first step to meaningful change.

I am reminded of the quote by John Eldridge, “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive, because what the world needs are men who have come alive.”
