Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
Life gets heavy, especially when you’re trying to hold everything together for everyone else. Whether you’re a child overwhelmed by big emotions, a teen sorting through identity and pressure, or a parent exhausted by it all, counseling can offer a safe space to breathe and begin again.
My approach is rooted in empathy and presence. I believe healing happens through relationship, where you or your child can feel truly seen and accepted. I use person-centered, narrative, and family systems techniques, weaving in practical tools that support emotional regulation, identity work, and self-understanding. I strive to create an environment where both kids and adults can explore their stories without shame and at a pace that feels right for them.
What to Expect in Therapy
Therapy with me is a collaborative process. There is no pressure to show up with everything figured out. I will meet you or your child with warmth and curiosity; this may look like sitting in silence, asking thoughtful questions, or playing on the floor with Legos.
For kids, sessions could include creative expression through art, games, or storytelling. For teens and adults, we will look at patterns, explore emotions, and make space for the parts of your story that haven’t had a voice. I aim to bring both structure and flexibility, helping you find practical strategies while also honoring deeper emotional work. Together, we’ll focus on progress, not perfection.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
I am currently completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling at Colorado Christian University. I bring years of hands-on experience from parenting five children and supporting families through church and community involvement. I also have training in play therapy interventions and enjoy using child-led approaches that support communication and connection beyond words.
My work is informed by my own lived experience. I’ve walked through chronic illness, grief, trauma, and faith deconstruction. I know what it’s like to feel unseen, exhausted, or unsure where to begin. These personal experiences have shaped how I show up in the counseling space, with presence, compassion, and deep respect for the courage it takes to show up at all.
Personal Life and Interests
I am a wife and mom of five, living a life that is often beautifully chaotic. Outside of sessions, you’ll usually find me reading, writing, sewing, or catching a quiet moment with iced coffee in hand. My faith continues to be a meaningful part of my life, even as I’ve asked hard questions and let go of easy answers.
I believe that healing often begins in the ordinary. Whether it’s through a meaningful conversation, a small act of self-kindness, or showing up for therapy when it feels easier to stay home, each step matters. Healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about learning how to live fully, even in the mess. It would be an honor to walk alongside you or your child as you take those steps forward.
