Philosophy and Therapeutic ApproacH
I believe in hope! No matter what situation you are currently facing, there is a profound reality that you hold within you – the capacity to flourish and experience life to the full. The path toward a life of abundance can be rocky and full of twists and turns. This is where therapy can serve as a lighthouse providing you with the necessary skills to reach your destination.
Life has a way of turning us upside down and in some moments all we can see is bleak darkness with no way out. I have been there and know first-hand that the human experience is not for the faint of heart. The good news is that when you forget who you are and where the light is, a trusted counselor can come alongside you to remind you of your worth and point you toward reclaiming the life you were made for. My desire in therapy is to help you regain clarity, purpose, and freedom.
My therapeutic approach is person-centered, believing that you are capable and stronger than you know. Therapy isn’t all about looking at the problems of life. We will also explore your strengths and how to use them to their fullest!
What to Expect in Therapy
The unique stories that make up our lives are always valuable. In our sessions, I will help you embrace your story and unlock how your past is influencing your present and future. Our first session together will be about understanding your story and identifying what you desire to address first. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the process and help you get to know and trust me! You will have total freedom to explore this process at your own pace and we can determine if we are a good fit for therapeutic work together.
My goal is to create a safe, authentic space for you to be yourself. You will find my style to be warm and empathetic as well as direct and honest. My focus will be to meet you right where you’re at. I don’t believe there is one size that fits all when it comes to therapy, but rather a custom-fit plan that we create collaboratively. Our sessions will not be centered around my goals for you, but rather around the goals that you consider most important!
Here at Cornerstone, you will have the option of bringing God into your therapeutic process to the level you are comfortable with. Through His love and mercy tremendous healing and freedom is possible! With this in mind, I will always respect your level of comfortability when in comes to integration of faith. I hope to be a reflection of God’s unconditional love and acceptance to you during our sessions together.
Personal Qualifications and Experience
I completed my studies in Theology and Child Development at Franciscan University of Steubenville and have spent nearly a decade working as a youth and young adult minister. It has been a privilege to walk alongside young people and their families. Seeking to understand and help them reach their full potential led me to pursue a degree in counseling. My experience in ministry has been invaluable in teaching me the depths of the human experience and giving me the opportunity to listen and offer a loving soundboard to others in both their sorrows and joys.
I am currently a graduate student at Divine Mercy University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have had the opportunity to take several certification courses through the Green Cross Institute of Traumatology as well as some specialized courses in marriage and family therapy. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages including kids, teens, young adults, and married couples. I have a special interest and love for working with young adult women which began in college as a Resident Assistant of 300 women and has continued through the years as a leader of various women’s ministries.
Personal Interests
I love all things Colorado! About two years ago I took a leap of faith and left my life in Philadelphia to encounter the magnificence of Colorado’s outdoors. From skiing, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and road-tripping with friends, it has been a wonderful adventure! Growing up on a horse farm in New Jersey, I have always had a love for wide-open spaces and simplicity of life. My adorable nieces and nephew live in Texas and are the light of my life, so hopping on a Texas-bound plane has become a regular occurrence! Above all, my faith, family, and friends have the biggest place in my heart.
NEXT STEPS
I have come that they might have life, and may have it abundantly (John 10:10, NIV).
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).
